It's Hockey Time – GO LEAFS!

I am going to Las Vegas!  My brother is getting married.  This will be his third marriage.  Some of my readers will know that his wife died a couple of years ago.  He was married once before that but he was very young, only 19 and it didn’t last very long.  He has had a couple of girlfriends since his 2nd wife died.  He has only known his fiancee for about 8 months which I don’t really think is long enough.  I don’t think he should be getting married to her since they really haven’t known each other that long but what can I say.  He seems happy so if he is happy then I guess I am happy for him.

My brother is 54 years old and his fiancee is 41 so there is a bit of an age difference.  It is her 2nd marriage and she has two teenage daughters.  One of the daughters will live with them , the other is going to live with her father.  She seems nice enough.  We chat on Facebook and AIM alot but it just isn’t the same when I used to chat with my brothers ex wife.  I guess I will get to know her better as time goes on. 

They have decided to get married in Las Vegas.  This is where they were engaged also.  They were suppose to get married on Saturday, the 15th but my brother started a new job which is temporary.  He asked for the Monday off during the interview to which they said “Don’t worry, we will work with you on that.”  When he accepted the job and everything was finalized, his new boss said he couldn’t have that day off so he is really upset about it.  They didn’t want to get married on Saturday and then have to leave on Sunday.  So instead they are getting married on August 14th which happens to be my birthday!

We leave this Friday morning.  The plane leaves at 9:30 am and we land around 2:30 pm.  My brother and his fiancee are picking us up at the airport.  We will probably try to have a nap in the afternoon.  The wedding is at 9:00 pm. which is going to be 12 midnight our time so we are going to be exhausted!  Especially if we don’t try to nap.  After the wedding we will go back to one of the rooms for some champagne and toast the bride and groom and have a visit.  After that I am sure we are going to crash!

We will spend Saturday them, see the strip and go to the casinos.  They leave Sunday so we will have the day to ourselves.  I am really looking forward to playing the slot machines!  I am hoping we will go to a show as well! 

I haven’t seen my brother in 10 years since he went down to Texas to meet his first wife.  He met her on the internet.  They eventually moved to Phoenix.  I am very excited to see him and I am looking forward to meeting my future sister in law.  What a great birthday present!

They invited her family and a few friends but none of them can make it becos they couldn’t afford it.  Her parents are ill and are unable to travel so it is just my mother, my aunt and I.  J will stay home and take care of the cat. 

D has been very friendly all week!  I won’t get into everything now but there has been a couple of very interesting things happen this week!  It is even making a few co-workers wonder about us!

It is going to be an awesome trip and a great birthday!  I can’t wait to tell you all about it when I get back.  You bet I will have lots of pics to share! 

So this cat I am looking after, I feed him a medium size can three times a day.  In the morning when we get up, then when I get home from work and again at bed time.  The owner has given me a couple of cases of food for him becos I have had him since May and a cheque for $20.00 to pay for the litter.  But I ran out of food a couple of weeks ago and I have told him but his parents haven’t come by with more food.  I have been buying his food and litter since then which I really can’t afford.

I just heard from the owner tonight and it looks like Joey will be going to Newfoundland to be with him.  He really does miss Joey but I really can’t see his step father putting Joey on a plane all by himself.  I will believe it when I see it!  I think I would rather Joey be put on a plane and go half way across to be with his owner than to go to a complete total stranger.  At least it is a short plan rider and he is sedated.

I don’t know, am I being selfish?  Should I keep him for a year?  I don’t want the cat, I really don’t! 

D came by on his way out tonight and we had a great conversation!  We talked for a long time, he said “Did you hear what happened to Kane?” who plays for the Chicago Black Hawks.  Luckily, I read Bev’s post on Facebook this morning!  Thanks Bev for the heads up!  I told him I was going to Vegas and I told him all about my brother getting married.  He seemed surprised and was very friendly!  He told me he was in Vegas 15 years ago.  I haven’t talked like that to him in a long time!  When he came by he said “See ya, are you in tomorrow?”  He knows I am always there, why would he ask that?  A co-worker that sits right across from me heard the whole conversation.  When he left she looked over and smiled at me!  She said “That was a long time!”  It was a good, long conversation!  

I haven’t seen D on Facebook for a long time and it is really bugging me.  So here is the plan is, I’m going to email him at work and leave him a meeage on facebook and say “The pictures are up on facebook if you would like to take a look.”  When I see him I hope to send him a message and hopefully start chatting with him.  Only if I get up the nerve to that is.

Well, it’s late.  I’m off to bed.  I hope everyone has a good week! 

This week is a short week, luckily we haven’t been as busy but we still have alot of work to do.  It will be awhile before we are all caught up.

D has been kind of friendly lately which makes me happy!  Tuesday night I was getting all upset becos I thought he had gone and I didn’t even see or hear him leave.  A co-worker said ”Goodnight to me.” so I turned around to say “Goodnight” back to her.  D walked by at that very moment smiled at me and said “Goodnight” to me!  He hasn’t done that in a long time so he sure did make my day! 

I was hoping to get another Goodnight from him the next night but he left early and he was wearing his jeans.  I think he might of gone to the baseball game.  I heard him talking about baseball to a co-worker this morning so I’m thinking that is what he might be doing.  J actually went to the ball game with his friend.  The Toronto Blue Jays play the New York Yankee’s.  He really enjoys going to the games!

So we have been looking after our friends cat while he is in Newfoundland visiting his father for a year.  The cats name is Joey and he is a very cute tiger cat.  Joey was staying at our friends step sisters house in but only for a about 3 days.  She said he was very rambuntious and gave him back to our friends mother and step father to deal with.  They didn’t want him so he asked me if I would take care of him.  I said “Yes but I do not want him for a year.”  J is allergic to cats and I really can’t afford to keep him.  They are trying to make other arrangements for him.  I have had him since May and it is now August and I am getting very tired of this!

This cat seems to be always hungry.  When he eats, it is like he hasn’t eaten in a year.  He eats way too fast!  The owner fed him 3 times a day and always gave him hard stuff as well.  But Joey started gaining alot of weight and he was throwing up the hard stuff so he stopped the hard stuff completely and just fed him his regular soft food 3 times a day.  So when he got to my place I fed him 3 times a day and then he started throwing up again.  He has thrown up all over my carpet, mostly in the hallway.  My carpet looks just awful and I am so upset about this!  Joey’s owner said he would pay to have my carpet cleaned but still!

We took him to the vet thinking he might be sick.  The vet checked him over and said thre is nothing wrong with him.  He said it is becos cats don’t like change and he is upset over his move and misses his owner.  I explained to the vet that I have taken care of Joey ever since he was a kitten on and off so he does know us and he is use to our home.  He gave him all of his shots.  Now here is the thing.  Even though we feed Joey 3 times a day he is still hungry.  He even gets into our garbage!  This behaviour is absolutely ridiculous!  We have to tape the garbage can and the cupboard drawers with masking tape and he still gets in.  We go down and there is garbage all over the floor!  I’m getting so sick and tired of this!  It doesn’t happen every day but it usually happens when I cook dinner.  I guess he likes my cooking.  Heh!

So the vet didn’t really help much.  He said I could try the food that they have at the clinic which is easy digestive food but it is more expensive.  He isn’t allergic to his food, I know that.  I just think it is becos he is eating way too fast so he throw it up and I don’t think there is anything that can be done for that.  I could feed him smaller amounts at a time but that is a pain and it is hard to do when I am working all day long.  So I’m not so sure what to do.

Like I said I told Joey’s owner that we don’t want to keep him for a whole year.  We are also so worried about Joey getting out of the house.  He is an indoor cat but if he ever got out and we lost him we would feel absolutely devasted!  His owner said that his step sister’s friend was interesting in getting a cat but it would be permanent.  Meaning that when Joey’s owner came back from NFL he wouldn’t get him back.  Of course we don’t want that to happen and we really don’t want Joey to go to a total strangers house either.  Joey’s owner has never even met his step sisters friend so I don’t think that is a good situation.

Joey’s owner really misses him and he is actually thinking of flying Joey out there to be with him.  But his father hates cats so I can’t see that working out and I can’t see Joey flying on the plane all by himself either!  I know you get a pill from the vet and it puts him to sleep but he would be all alone!  How did I get myself stuck in this situation?  Don’t get me wrong.  The cat is a very nice cat and he love him dearly.  He is very friendly!  He doesn’t bite at all or hiss or growl or even scratch!  It is just this garbage thing and this food thing that is driving us crazy!

So do you think I am being way too selfish here?  Do you think I should keep him until next May or do you think Joey’s owner should fly him to Newfoundland all by himself?  I really don’t know what to do.  What would you do?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
