Relaxing weekend

September 20th, 2009

It has been a nice relaxing weekend.  I really didn’t do much at all.  Yesterday we went to the mall and I got my eye makeup remover that I needed at the Bay.  I picked up some pictures I ordered of Vegas at Black’s for my aunt and my mother.  We were anxious to go to Mr. Sub for lunch to thank the Mr. Sub guy for the TML tickets and told him what a great time we had!

After the mall we went to Benjamin Moore to look at paint chips.  I am itching to paint my living room and dining room again.  I painted it about 3 years ago and I still don’t like the colour.  It is a peachy colour and I just want a nice warm beige colour, not too dark and not too light.  I have been looking at paint chips all weekend and I still can’t decide.  I need an interior decorator to come in and do it all for me!  I am so lousy at this!  LOL!

J and I ordered pizza and watched the Leafs vs Philadelphia Flyers game.  It was another great game and we won 5 – 4!  We also watched the game on friday night against the Pittsburg Penguins and we won that game too 4 – 3!  The Leafs are on fire!  Hopefully they can keep it up all season!

This afternoon I did the usual laundry and tidied up the house.  I also cleaned the dowstairs bathroom.  We went to Mom’s for dinner.  She cooked spare ribs and they were delicious.  My barbeque died a couple of weeks ago.  We thought we just ran out of gas so we took it to get refilled but it still wouldn’t work.  It is the burners that died.  I really do miss our barbeques, the weather has been so nice too!  Mom and I are looking at new barbeques hoping we will be able to find one on sale soon.  If not we will get a new one next spring.

I drove J to his friends house after dinner.  The boys wanted to watch a pay perview wrestling show.  After the show they were going to play video games.  It is almost 1 a.m. and J still isn’t home yet!  It is a good thing he doesn’t have school tomorrow or I wouldn’t let him be out so late on a school night.  He should be home shortly.

I watched the Emmy’s tonight.  I don’t watch half of the shows that won so I didn’t know the actors or actresses.  Anyway, it’s way late and J just got home.  Such the life of a teenager.  I’m going to bed.  I hope everyone had a good weeked!

Busy week

September 18th, 2009

This has been a busy week.  We are busy learning the new way of entering our invoices.  Today was another frustrating day for me.  There are lots of bugs to figure out.  It is going to be a long time before it is working 100%.

J and I had a great time at the game on Wednesday night!   I took the day off and we took the train into the city.  We went to the Hockey Hall of Fame first.  We got our picture taken with the Stanley Cup and we saw Steve Mason’s Calder Trophy.  We also saw the Columbus Blue Jackets display case and who was representing them was of course Steve Mason!  It was so awesome to see him in the display case.  And to think he is in the Hockey Hall of Fame and he lives just a block away from us!

We looked around the store there and J bought two Columbus Blue Jackets pucks one for himself and one for his friend since his friends favorite team is the CBJ.  J bought me Toronto Maple Leaf earrings and necklace.  It is a belated birthday present since he never got me anything for my birthday.  I love it and I can’t wait to wear them!

We had a nice dinner at the Movenpick which is in the same building as the HHOF.   After dinner we walked to the Air Canada Centre.  We looked in the store and then we found our seats which were great seats!  We had gold seats!  It was so cool to see everyone wearing TML jerseys and blue and white!  I wore my jersey which is J’s old one.  It’s too small for him so I claimed it!  J wore his jersey so we had on matching jerseys!  Some people wore the crazy blue and white wigs.  I have one but I didn’t wear mine, I should of though.   We watched the Leafs practiced.  It was so awesome when they came out!  Everyone was going crazy!  It was so loud in the building!  I think everyone was extra excited becos hockey it was the first game!  It was a great game even though we lost 3 – 2.  We almost tide the game near the end.

The game was so much fun!  I wish I could go to every game!  Ok maybe not every game but at least 2 times a month!  The Leafs really looked good!  I think it’s going to be a great season!

I went out for dinner with a few girls from the office last night.  We met up with one of our ex-co-workers who they recently let go this past summer.  We went to a nice Greek restaurant which isn’t too far from our office.  It was great seeing her again and getting all caught up and we had a good time bitching and complaing about work.   Heh, you have to let it all out every once in awhile, right?

I’m so glad it’s Friday!  I’m looking forward to sleeping in for the next day days.  I’m really tired!  We don’t have much planned.  We are going to the mall tomorrow and I need to do a couple of other errands.

J is happy becos he isn’t working tomorrrow night and can watch the Leafs game against Philadelphia with me.  We already beat them on Thursday night!  Sunday will be the usual cleaning day and we will probably go to my mother’s for dinner.  I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Update

September 14th, 2009

Work has been very busy.  My friend/co-worker has been on holidays the past couple of weeks so we were a girl short and we are learning the new way of doing our job.  She is back now so today has been a little better.

J has had a great first week of College!  I can’t believe my baby is in College now!  J is taking Computer programming.  He likes all of his courses and teachers.  He has a good schedule as well.  He has Mondays off so he has a long weekend every weekend!  He is quite happy about that!  Tuesday he has only one clas so he is out early in the afternoon.  Wednesday he has a class in the morning and Thursday and Friday are his full days.  He gets out at 3:00 pm which isn’t bad at all.

He is taking the bus for the first time.  The bus stop is right across the street so it is very handy for him.  Even in the bad weather it won’t be bad for him at all.  So far he hasn’t had any home work but he knows the work load is coming.

He is out almost every night this week.  Last night he went with his friend to a pay per view wrestling show.  They are out tonight at the Air Canada Centre at a wrestling show.  Tomorrow night the boys are out at another wrestling show!

D has been very friendly lately but I will have to tell you about that another time.

On Saturday we went to the mall and treated ourselves to our usual Mr. Sub for lunch.  We have been doing this almost every Satruday so we know the people at Mr. Sub pretty well.  After getting our usual order I went to get a drink next door and the Mr. Sub guy called us back.  He said  “Are you busy Wednesday night?”  At first I said to J.  “Is he talking to us?”  The Mr. Sub guy said again “Are you busy Wednesday night?”  J and I looked at each other in puzzlement.  I thought to myself  Is he going to ask me out on a date?  LOL!  This guy is not my type at all believe me!  J said “Why?”  He said “I have free Leafs tickets to the pre season opener game.  Would you like them?  I can’t go.”

J and I looked at each other, we couldn’t believe it!  J said  “Sure!!!!”  It was so nice of the Mr. Sub guy to give them to us!  We couldn’t believe it!!!  And they are great seats too – Gold seats!  The Leafs are playing Boston so we will probably loose but it will be fun just to go to a game!  I am so excited hockey season is here!!!

Since we will be downtown Toronto I am thinking of taking the day off work and go to the Hockey Hall of Fame.  J has a morning class so we would go after lunch and take the train in.  We both want to go to it and it is not too far from the ACC.  I am really ecited about going to the game!  I think the last time I went to a Leafs game was 30 years ago!  It is going to be so much fun!

Vegas!

September 12th, 2009

At last I am finally updating about Vegas!  I’m sorry it’s taken me so long.  I just haven’t been in the mood to update at all and usually too tired to.   So let’s see where do I start!

We had a great flight.  We landed at Vegas airport and got our luggage and we looked around for my brother and his finance but he wasn’t there.  We didn’t know where to meet them so we were just kind of walked around.  They arrived a few minutes late.  It was so great seeing him again after 10 years!

They took us right to our hotel and we checked in and rested for a bit.  Our first hotel was the MGM Grand!  My brother and his wife have a thing for Lions so we went right over to see the Lions.  They had a couple of baby cubs there that were so adorable!  You could pay to feed them but we didn’t.  We walked around the hotel for quite awhile and then went back to our hotel to rest for a couple of hours before the wedding.

I tried to nap but I couldn’t.  I had been up since 5:30 am and I was already tired.  I guess I was too excited to sleep.  I went in the shower and got ready for the wedding.  I met my future SIL at the salon in our hotel.  She was getting her hair done.  After that we had a nice dinner at the hotel.  My brother took off as my future SIL didn’t want to see him at all before the wedding.

After dinner we got dressed and I helped her get dressed and soon it was time for the wedding to start.  It was a very nice wedding!  My mother, my aunt and I were the only ones there.  Her family didn’t come.  Her parents were too sick to travel but they are doing much better now.  They invited a few friends but they didn’t make it becos unfortunately they couldn’t afford too.

It was a very pretty setting.  The wedding was at 9:00 pm so the gazebo was all light up.  The ceremony itself took about 20 minutes and after were pictures which took quite awhile.  After the pictures we went back to the MGM Grand.  My brother and his new wife wanted to have their picture taken infront of the MGM Lion all dressed up.  So we got in the car and drove to the MGM.  My mother stayed in the car while the rest of us went in to get our picture taken.

My brother and his wife got their picture taken and I got my picture taken with them.  I wanted my picture taken by myself so I was standing there waiting for my aunt to take my picture when all of a sudden…  These two guys came from no where and said “We want our picture taken too!  I said  “Oh OK come here!”  They were already beside me and they both put there arms around me and my aunt took there picture!

While this was happening my brother and my SIL went back to the car and my mother saaid “Where’s Pam?”  My brother said “Oh, two guys just picked her up!”  My mother said in a very surprising voice!  “W H A T?”

After my aunt took the picture the guy to the righ tof me shook my hand, we had a good laugh and then they left!  I am kicking myself now that I didn’t even ask for their names or where they were from or anything!  It was hilarious though!  So all weekend of course everyone was teasing me about being picked up by two guys!  And were they ever cute too!  I wish I could of taken both of them home with me!  LOL!

We went back to our hotel and we had a glass of champange and we said a nice toast to the bride and groom.  We talked for awhile and went back to our rooms which were right down the hall and went to bed.  It was 4:00 am the when we turned the lights on!  I had gotten at 5:30 am so I was up for 24 hours!  The 3 hour time difference didn’t help.  I was exhausted!

We slept in a bit Saturday morning becos we were so exhausted.  When we got up we planned where we were going to go for the day.  My brother and SIL drove to Vegas from Pheonix so we had a car.  The first hotel we went to was the Mandalay.  We had lunch at the Mandalay.  Next we went to the Mirage.  We went to the Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat and saw the Lions, tigers and other animals.  We saw the Dolphins and waterfalls.  We were tired from all that walking around so we played some slot machines for awhile.  We really enjoyed the Mirage!

Next we went to Caeser Palace Forum shops.  We loved this hotel!  The architecture is beautiful!  There are so many shops here.  I went into the music collectable shop and there was an Elvis impersonator in there.  I asked him if I can have my picture taken with him.  My aunt who was taking our picture said “It’s her birthday!”  So Elvis sang Happy Birthday to me!  I thought that was so awesome!  My aunt was having a bit of trouble with my camera and Elvis said “If it takes more than 2 minutes, she’s mine!”  LOL!  Of course I laughed and I felt like saying, “OK get rid of the camera, throw it out!”  LOL!   It was so awesome!  How often do you get to have Elvis sing Happy birthday too!

After walking around some more we went back to our Hotel to get ready for dinner.  We decided to go to the Red Lobster for my birthday dinner.  Actually, the Red Lobster wasn’t my choice at all but my brother and SIL wanted to go there so that is where we went.  I had a delicious seafood meal with lobster and shrimp served over linguini.  It was very good and I really enjoyed it.  I also had icecream on a big chocolate cookie for desert and they brought it to me with a candle on it.  We had a great waiter too.  He was very friendly and it was fun talking to him.

After dinner we went parked the car at Ballys.  Valet parking of course and we walked across the street to the Belagio.  There is a beautiful fountain show with music infront of the hotel that we wanted to see.  There was a railing/fence all along the side of the road.  We kept walking hoping for a break to get closer so we could get a better view of the fountain show but there wasn’t a break for a long time.  So we climbed over the railing which was about up to my thighs.  I didn’t think I would make it over but I did.  Everybody else did but my aunt had quite a bit of difficulty climbing over.  She needed help from my mother and my brother.  She started laughing, and all of us were killing ourselves laughing!  There was a couple of guys near by who were watching the whole thing and they were laughing too!  I went up to them and said “Are you laughing at us?”  One of them said “Ya, how about an enchore!”  LOL!  It was too funny!  It’s a good thing my aunt has a good sense of humor!  LOL!  The fountain show is beautiful to see!  We loved it!

After the Belagio we walked back to Bally’s and played the slot machines.  I didn’t win anything really.  I guess you could say I broke even.  My brother won almost $300.00!  It was almost enough to pay for their honeymoon suite so they were very happy!  We played the slots for awhile and then went back to our hotel and went to bed.

We didn’t get up too early Sunday morning.  We went out for a nice brunch at Eggs Works!  I had a delicious omelette!  Then my brother and SIL drove us to the Venetians Hotel and we said our Goodbye’s.  They had a 5 hour drive back to Phoenix and my brother had to work on Monday so they had to leave.  It was hard to say Goodbye.  I sure hope it isn’t another 10 years before I see him again.

We walked around the Venetian for awhile.  I loved the Venetian hotel, they had pretty umbrella all over the ceiling!  We got tired so we played some some machines for awhile.  We also saw a short musical opera show there which was pretty fun.  Then we went to the Wynn via the overpass.  Wynn is another very pretty hotel!  They had such pretty white lights all over the trees in the gardens.  We sat down in a nice little cafe and had tea and had a nice rest.

From there we took a taxi to the Paris hotel.  I really liked the Paris hotel!  We enjoyed looking at all the shops and the halls were actually like the streets in Paris – you can see them if you are a friend on Facebook.  It looks like you really are in Paris!  We had dinner at one of the restraunts.  I had a nice steak dinner, it was very good!

After Paris we went back to the Belagio hotel and we saw the fountain show again.  Then we walked through the hotel.  The Belagio has beautiful gardens!  It was packed!  Apparently, there was a convention going on.

I wanted to go to the Monte Carlo hotel since I used to live in Monte Carlo, I thought it would be neat to go to the hotel.  If you look at the map, it looks like the Montel Carlo is very close to the Belagio.  We started walking and we walked and we walked and we walked!  It seemed like it took us forever to get there.  We were exhausted!  I swear it was at least 1/2 a mile!  We were so tired so we sat down and played the slot machines for awhile and had a drink.  I bought a Monte Carlo T-shirt and that was the only souvineer I bought for myself.

Then we took a taxi to the Hard Rock Hotel.  The Hard Rock Hotel was very close to our hotel so it was the last stop.  I wanted to get J a T-shirt from there.  We walked in and it was a rocken!  The place was SO loud!  I was really surprised to see they had pole dancers!  LOL!  Of course I had to take a picture of them!  LOL!  We made it just in time to buy J a T-shirt as the store was closing so I was happy and relieved to get J his T-shirt!

We didn’t stay at the Hard Rock Hotel very long as we were very tired.  From there we walked to our hotel.  It is actually across the street.  When we got in we had to pack up as we were leaving in the morning.

We had to get up early.  We got everything packed up and ready to go.  We got to the airport and had breakfast and played the slot machines one last time.  It was fun!  The flight home was great!  It was so wonderful seeing my brother after 10 years!  It is great to see him so happy with his new wife.  It was so much and I had such a great time!  It was an absolute awesome weekend!  I only wish we could of stayed there longer.  I would of liked to seen a show but we didn’t really have time.  We wanted to see as many of the hotels as we could.  We just took it all in and I really hope I get a chance to go back there one day!
